Healing and Serving

Healing and Serving

Rev. Kelly Isola taught many healing classes at Unity Village. She shared these ideas from her research in the archives of Myrtle Fillmore:

Throughout Myrtle's decades of writing, she repeatedly says we exist to express God.

In 1890 Myrtle wrote, "We are Creation. We exist or show forth our Creator. Exist means to show forth."  Myrtle told those seeking healing that being in service is a necessary part of the healing journey. That is what going forth means. She even rewrote lyrics to “Ave Maria,” ending the song with the line, “Help us to aid each other in life’s service everywhere.”

On Sunday, Maité offered us possibilities to share and serve.  Here is how you can join in:

  • You can bring clean, gently used clothing to support the homeless and others who are in need. Socks are always welcomed.
  • You can bring small household items for someone needing to establish a new living space.

There is a blue tote in the hallway for your gifts.

If you have furniture, please  call  Maité.  If you would like to give of your time here are two options:

  • A Place of Miracles Cottage 2007 Willis Rd., Richmond, 23237 (clothing), 3-8pm on Wednesdays.
  • The Place of Miracles Café 8820 Metro Ct, Richmond, 23237 (food), Wed. 3-6:30, Thursdays 2-6:30pm
    and Fridays, 1-7pm.

Next month we will feature information about an opportunity to fill backpacks on November 30th. If you have backpacks you would like to donate, you can bring them to the church starting now. Last year over 500 were filled and distributed.

As we put our 5th principle into action, we will be blessed, and we will bless others. Joy to you in whatever you choose.

Much love,
   Rev. Patty
