Peace and the Present Moment

Peace and the Present Moment

A philosopher from 6BC, Lao Tzu, said this:  “If you are depressed you are living in the past.  If you are anxious you are living in the future.  If you are at peace you are living in the present.”

I invite us all to create peace during this season by getting present and allowing simplicity and love to guide our thoughts, our actions, and days. Eckhart Tolle echoes these words of truth as did Jesus. As we remember that the One Power and One Presence is the truth of our being, we become peace. We let go of shame and guilt from the past. We let go of insecurity about what is to come. We connect to what is possible right here, right now, in the midst of love. With God, all things are possible. Peace appears. We breathe a little more deeply.

We do not need the perfect thing to wear, the most fabulous food or the most exquisite gift or decorations. What makes Christmas delightful is showing up as love, acceptance and presence. We have the chance to connect with the Christ in another and to tell them that we see their beautiful light. Nothing beats that!

May we celebrate the peace of Christ as we look into the eyes of each person we encounter. It is a high and marvelous calling. To be a peacemaker is to be the Christ in action. It is the thing for which our world hungers.

Feel the peace in this truth song: "You Are Light", by Charley Thweatt (below).

Joy and Peace to you,
 Rev. Patty ♥️
