Happy February! Happy month of Love! Let’s start the month considering self-love. When we have a strong sense of self-love, we understand our own value and treat ourselves in a loving way. It is NOT being selfish, rather it is connecting to the love energy that gives us life and expresses in our thoughts and lives, so we live with our own cups overflowing. We can intentionally create habits and practices that contribute to our physical, emotional, and mental health.
We could pray daily and listen for Spirit’s guidance. We could give ourselves a hug and look in the mirror saying, “I Love you.” We could dance and sing. We could remember we are love, and love is unstoppable. We could call a friend. It’s always great to make a gratitude list; snuggle with our partner or beloved pet; listen to a favorite song; or walk in the beauty of nature. Do at least one thing that makes your heart sing.
I am still learning to treat myself with tenderness and respect. As I do so, I discover my heart expanding. I am unplugging. Author Anne La Mott reminds us, “Almost everything will work again if you unplug it for a few minutes, including you.” Treat yourself to sabbath time.
Finally, here is a technique called The Havening (CLICK HERE to learn more) that calms our minds and bodies. When fear and anxiety rise, it’s a great way to love yourself.
May we learn to honor and love ourselves deeply and richly. You are amazing!
Much love,
Rev. Patty
