When I think about faith, the thing that is challenging, is leaning into what my heart knows even when I can’t quite see the proof in the external world. I am looking with the spiritual eyes of vision rather than my physical eyes. It’s a spiritual practice to trust the Truth I know or have experienced rather than the external view. It’s an opportunity to lean into the spiritual principles and know that they ALWAYS work.
I know that there are things I cannot see that exist like love, loyalty, integrity and honesty. I can see them enacted in people’s lives, but the qualities are invisible, etched in one’s heart and consciousness. I know that the things that matter most to me are invisible. I count on having things like a car that runs well and a home in which my soul is restored. Yet, without the wonderful amazing invisible gifts like love and purpose, they would be empty.
We are invited to be present to our faith in this first week of Advent. What do you know to be true? To what thoughts do you repeatedly give energy? What is foundational for you? How can you more deeply allow your faith to feed your whole being- body, mind and spirit?
Mary was able to say yes because she knew the voice that was inviting her on this birthing adventure was filled with truth and power. Have you listened to the voice of love and said “yes” lately? Joseph Campbell stated, "The adventure of a lifetime is to become who you really are". May we listen to the voice of love and say, “YES, LOVE IS THE TRUTH OF MY BEING!”
As we walk the story of the birth of Jesus the Christ this month, may we become more fully the light and love that we are. We walk in faith that all of creation is opening the doors and windows we have yet to see. How fabulous is it to be able to walk by faith and not by sight?!
