I want to share with you something you may not know. The people who create what is happening on Sunday mornings are so fabulous. Some are paid and many are volunteers.
During the week prior to our celebration service, preparations start with creating necessary documents, schedules, handouts, packets and more. Then, on Sunday, our Fellowship Coffee Team often starts around 9:00am and, shortly thereafter, our AV and Music Teams arrive. Then, Marcie opens our bookstore, and our ushers, greeters, service leaders, and Susan M. (our flower arranger) arrive before 10:00am. All this preparation is humming along, so that when you arrive, you feel at home.
After service, our chaplains stay in the sanctuary to be present with those wanting prayer. The fellowship teams usually work until at least 1:00pm cleaning up. Isn’t it lovely that we are so loved and treated so graciously by all involved!
We thank and bless these people weekly, and I think they deserve an extra shout out for showing up every week with love and dedication! You may think it’s a small thing, but this kind of commitment is not a small thing. It takes discipline. I have been watching people for over 35 years show up on Sunday mornings, week after week, with love and a serving attitude. You can often sense joy in their spirit. “Joy is the infallible sign of the presence of God,” said the French Jesuit, Father Pierre Teilhard de Chardin.
This Sunday is a wonderful opportunity to personally thank our prayer chaplains and all of these beautiful partners for making Sunday a glorious experience!
Thank you, beloveds. We are grateful. We are grateful. We are grateful!
In joy and appreciation,
Rev. Patty
